Your Water

Supplies & Facilities

The Ventura River Water District obtains water from two sources: local groundwater and Lake Casitas (supplied by Casitas Municipal Water District).

GROUNDWATER

Our groundwater aquifer holds an approximate two-year water supply when full. We operate 4 wells near the Ventura River, two pumping plants, and three reservoir facilities.

SURFACE WATER

Additionally, we have multiple connections that allow us to receive treated surface water from Lake Casitas. Lake Casitas is engineered to withstand a 21-year drought. Customers in Casitas Springs, Rio Via and Monte Via in Oak View receive Lake Casitas Water exclusively. Other customers may receive Lake Casitas water if our groundwater wells require maintenance, or during drought conditions.
